Backsplash & Tile

Backsplash, shower, and wall tile — thousands of options in our studio

Tile is where a room gets its personality, and it holds more decisions than most people expect. What the tile is, where it starts and stops, how wide the grout lines are, what color the grout is — all of it is chosen, and all of it shows.

What we work in

Porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass, and mosaic, in a wide range of shapes and sizes — subway, large format, ledger, arabesque, pebble, linear, and patterned. Large tile works on floors as well as walls, so the same material can run in more than one place in a room.

In the studio

Our showroom holds thousands of tiles, and this is the part screens do badly. You can hold the tile, set it against a countertop, put it beside a cabinet color, and see all of it together in one place.

Bathrooms

A large share of our tile work is bath. Tiled shower surrounds are common, and so are bathrooms tiled floor to ceiling. Those come with more decisions than a kitchen backsplash — where a niche sits, how a bench is finished, how a pattern turns a corner.

Beyond the tile itself

Choosing the tile is the start. Layout is much of the rest — where the pattern starts, how the tile ends against the cabinets, what happens at an outside corner.

Grout is part of it, not an afterthought. Color and line width change how a tile reads, and both get worked out with you against the real tile.

Your contractor

Your contractor installs the tile. The project generally goes to them as a binder with the layout, the specs, and the quantities, so the plan is on paper. We figure material and coverage, and your contractor checks it before ordering.

Tile on its own

A shower is a real project by itself, and those come up often. A bathroom that needs retiling doesn't need a full remodel around it.
