Flooring

Flooring covers more square footage than anything else you'll choose. That makes it the biggest visual decision in a room and the one that takes the most abuse. Those two things aren't at odds — there are floors that look beautiful and still handle dogs, kids, and wet boots.

What we work in

Luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood in both solid and engineered, and tile.

Tile floors

Tile comes up often and it lasts. A well-chosen tile floor, installed properly, is about as durable as flooring gets, and in a bath or a mudroom that's usually the point. It isn't right everywhere, and plenty of people land somewhere else on the list.

Finding the right one

We don't push people off one product and onto another. We ask how you live — who's in the house, whether there are pets, what happens in the room, how much traffic it takes, what you're willing to maintain. Then we show you what fits. Every one of these materials is right for someone.

Your house matters as much as your taste. How a floor will lie, what's underneath it, and how it meets the rooms around it all narrow the field before anything else does.

Past the kitchen and bath

Floors rarely stop at a doorway. Kitchens and baths are our specialty, but where a floor runs into the rooms around it, we can carry it through the house.

Refinishing

If you want to refinish an existing hardwood floor as part of a project — a kitchen where the footprint isn't changing, say — that's a reasonable thing to do, and we can plan around it.

Your contractor

Your contractor installs the flooring, along with any subfloor prep or underlayment the room needs.

The project generally goes to them in the same binder as everything else, with the specs, the quantities, and our suggestions on transitions and where they should fall. Where those land is settled between you and your contractor, with our recommendations in hand.
