A countertop is the surface you touch every day, and the hardest thing in the kitchen to change your mind about later. We work in three materials. Which one fits has less to do with what photographs well than with how you live — who cooks, how often, and whether you want something even or something that varies.

The three materials

Quartz is the most durable of the three. Because it's manufactured, it runs consistent slab to slab, so seams can usually be matched closely and veining carried across a run. It suits clean, sharp lines.

Granite is natural stone, so no two slabs match. That variation is why people choose it.

Solid surface is softer, and the most likely to show scratches over time. It has real strengths, and we'll walk through where they are.

Picking your slab

Since granite varies slab to slab, you may be able to choose yours in person. Where that's an option, we can set up an appointment with our representative at the fabricator so you can pick the actual piece of stone — not a sample chip, the slab.

Quartz and solid surface are manufactured and consistent, so what you see in the showroom is generally what shows up in the house.

We work with several fabricators, and the material you pick decides which one builds your tops.

Sink and faucet

Both are usually chosen here, alongside the countertop rather than after it, and both are available through us. We coordinate the specs with the fabricator so your countertop can be cut for the pieces you've chosen.

Template to install

The fabricator templates your kitchen, builds your tops, and installs them. We stay involved as the work moves along.

Backsplash

If you want your backsplash in the same material as your counter, the fabricator can make it with the tops. Most people choose tile instead, which is picked here against your cabinets and countertop, and installed by your contractor.

Countertops on their own

You don't need a full remodel. New countertops on existing cabinets is a real project, and one we take on for homeowners across Erie County. It starts with a phone call and a walk & talk in your home.

Worth knowing before you plan

If you're replacing cabinets, plan on replacing the countertop too. Taking a countertop off a cabinet run almost always ruins it, so a plan that counts on reusing yours isn't one we'd recommend.
