Custom Window Treatments

Window treatments go in last and they're the first thing you notice when they're wrong. How long they hang, how wide they are, where the rod sits, how the fabric looks next to everything else in the room — those are design decisions.

What's available

Blinds, shades, shutters, drapes, roman shades, valances, and cornices. Plantation shutters come up a lot, and so do roman and cellular shades. Motorized and cordless options are available on most of what we carry.

Drapes and fabric

Our studio has a fabric library, so you can hold the fabric and see it beside your paint color, your flooring, and everything else you've chosen. That's a very different thing from a photo.

If you want something made a special way, ask.

How they work, not just how they look

It's usually both. A bedroom might need to get really dark. A room facing south might take too much sun. Some rooms need privacy at night and light during the day. What the treatment has to do narrows the options, and the look gets designed inside those.

Measuring

We measure your windows ourselves. Windows are one place where being off a little shows. On a bigger project, the contractor installing them may check the measurements too.

Installation

We can suggest a contractor to install them.

Why a designer

There are companies around here that sell window treatments. They can show you a catalog and take your order.

What most don't bring is an eye for the room itself. Should the drape touch the floor or sit just above it? How high should the rod go? Should a shade sit inside the window frame or outside it? How will that fabric look next to the finishes already in the room? None of that comes out of a catalog.
